March 2021

I had just applied to camp and it was confirmed that I would be working as a counselor all summer.

I realized I would be graduating in just a couple of months, and besides working at a camp for the summer, I didn’t have any future plans.

I sat down with my notebook and pen and made some really crazy goals. One of the goals, I said, just “popped in my head”. Looking back, it was definitely the Holy Spirit’s prompting.

My biggest goal was to go on an out-of-country mission trip sometime in the next 5 years

I thought that would be impossible with Covid still around, and I didn’t have a job to raise any money. I pushed it to the back of my mind for something I could inspire myself to do in the far future.

Less than 2 weeks later, I got an email from the camp I was going to work at. They were looking for counselors to go to Guyana, South America, to run a camp for one week.

Everything clicked! This was exactly what I was talking to God about two weeks ago, and here it is happening. I immediately agreed that I would go.

Even though I knew God was a part of this trip and leading in every aspect, I was still concerned about money.

We needed $1,500 each by August. I did not have a lot of time to raise money.

I started talking to churches and family in June, so I had a month to get the full amount. I was posting things on Facebook and my Instagram and sending letters to my grandparents and their churches. I had about $800, so I was close, but not quite there.

One Sunday morning I went and spoke to my old church in Michigan,

and once again, it was the Holy Spirit talking through me. I didn’t follow my notes or even remember what I said that morning. I just told them about the trip and asked for them to support me.

I stood by the door after church while everyone was leaving, and people kept handing me money and checks. I didn’t look at what I was given. I just said thank you and kept putting it in my pocket.

My brother-in-law came to pick me up after church. I started counting the checks and cash people gave me.

I had exactly $1,500!

Just from church alone, I was able to get all of the money I needed for my trip.

In total, I was able to raise almost $4,000 and help fund other people on my team who were short of money.

Every time I doubted something would work, God showed up in more obvious ways than before.

When you don’t look for God, you’re going to miss a lot of good things coming your way.

I have no doubt in my mind that God is behind me completely, especially when it comes to my mission trips.

This trip has followed a similar pattern of me doubting and God showing up.

I’m not concerned about raising the full $3,000 in 4 weeks.

God proves my doubts wrong every time.

If you want to be apart of helping me reach my goal go to the give section of my website to support me financially. Let’s follow Gods plan together!
